The purpose of the project is to design and implement a game prototype that enables kids/big kids travelling in the back seat of cars to enjoy a rich gaming experience where narrative episodes and embedded gameplay combine with the experience of traveling through the road network. The game and game story will be designed to be meaningful even when the tempo and order of the journey changes.

CellDB

CellDB is an open database which links the cells that make up mobile networks, to their location. Cell locations can be used for location deteminence of mobile handsets. Currently, most applications create their own cell database. Our philosophy is that these applications should compete on features, not on cell coverage. If they use a common database, all applications will work better, enhancing the user experience. That's why we build an open database, that any application can use.

CitiTag is a wireless location-based multiplayer game, designed to enhance spontaneous social interaction and novel experiences in city environments by integrating virtual presence with physical. In the first version of CitiTag you roam the city with a GPS- and WiFi-enabled iPaq PocketPC in search for players of the opposite team that you can ‘tag’. You can also get tagged yourself if one of them gets close to you. Then you need to find a friend to free you. Urban space becomes a playground and everyone is a suspect.

During the Summer of 2006 there were many reports about the increasing level of obesity particularly amongst children. At the same time, there were increasing concerns about children spending more and more time indoors, particularly in front of screens whether watching television or playing computer games.I thought that to make it compelling for youngsters to play outdoors these days, one would have to make games more compelling, and it seemed a logical step to imagine how we could take computer games outdoors. Already using GPS as an accessory to our walks, it seemed natural to base games around GPS, particularly as it becomes an accepted technology.
